10/31/2006: Authentication Portal Maintenance on 10/29/2006 UPDATE

It has been determined that additional maintenance work will be required to complete the updating of the security certificate on the portal authentication server. In order to complete the maintenance, the portal authentication server will be unavailable between 6:00am and 7:00am on Wednesday, November 1.

Following the maintenance on the Bruin OnLine campus wireless authentication portal, it was determined that there were problems with the security certificate that was loaded onto the server. Users whose wireless sessions are routed to the authentication portal will receive a notice from their browser with three options:

  • Accept this certificate permanently
  • Accept this certificate temporarily for this session
  • Do not accept this certificate

Users can select either of the first two options to authenticate to the portal.

The CTS Network Operations Center has been in contact with the certificate vendor (Verisign) and will be loading the correct certificate between 6:00am and 7:00am on Tuesday, October 31. During this period, access to the wireless authentication portal will be unavailable. Users wishing to use the campus wireless network can use the campus VPN. Information on VPN is available at We apologize for any inconvenience.

The CTS Network Operations Center will be performing maintenance on the authentication portal server on Sunday, October 29, 2006 from 6:30AM to 7:00AM.

During the maintenance period, connectivity via the authentication portal on campus will be interrupted. This affects wireless in areas with CTS-managed access points (APs) and GACnet ethernet connectivity. Services will be restored once the maintenance is complete. We thank you for your patience during this maintenance period.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. If you have any questions, please contact the BOL Help Desk at (310)267-4357, option 1, or at
