Staph aureus
Augmentin
or
Doxycycline (over 8yrs)
Catfish:
Dog:
Pasteurella multocida,
Staph aureus, Bacteroids, Fusobacterium, EF-4, Capnocytophaga
Augmentin
or
Clindamycin and Bactrim
or
Clindamycin and FQ(adult)
Only 5 % dog bites become infected. Prophylaxis may be worthwhile. Consider antirabies rx,May transmit blastomycosis. Capnocytophaga in splenectomyzed pts may cause local eschar, sepsis with DIC. P. multocida resistant to diclox, cephalexin, clind and erythro is sensative to FQ's in vitro
