Russia Revisited

Much is known about Russian history, but little is said about Russian architecture. The opportunity to create a web page is the perfect opportunity to investigate and present Russian architecture as an experience rather than a monotonous presentation. The idea of this project is to educate others about the magnificent lengths Russian architects went to in order to erect these extremely decorative and elaborate structures. Russian tradition has formed and thrived with these structures. Throughout the centuries different rulers have dictated Russia, and therefore brought in their own views of architecture into the cultural aspect of the country. The creation of this web page will allow not only scholars, but also educators to interpret their own understanding of Russian history. The facts presented on this web page celebrate Russian nationalism and pride. Architecture has been Russia’s gold, and it is time that it be presented through a students perspective.

As with other developed societies, Russia's history has strongly evolved through the connections between relegion and political rule. The distinct history of Russia whether it be during czarist reign or Communist rule has produced an architectural style that has developed alongside the ruling power at the particular time throughout her history. Early Russian Architecture began to evolve with the ideas of many cultures combined. Russia’s complicated history has affected its architectural background.

Russian architects have erected thousands of projects for the many different rulers that ruled the nation throughout the centuries. The architects that have designed and built these infamous structures are artists that dedicated their entire lives to building great monuments that would be looked upon as Russia’s most important assets. My goal is to show people the true beauty of Russia. This will enable people to look past Russia’s past and see the future. I created this web page as an interactive way for not only myself to learn, but others to enjoy. The idea behind this project is to fascinate people into learning more about this wonderful and enchanting nation, full of splendor and beauty.
