In somewhat of a surprise, NBADRAFT.NET, had the best score in the 2003 Predict the Draft Contest. Usually a low finisher, the web site had 74 points to edge out CRAIGINMD and BEN BROWDY who were tied with 73 points and the same tiebreaker.
Of the media outlets, FOXSPORTS.COM (Frank Burleson) was easily the best. (Scoring was done differently for them, since they only made first round predictions.)
Notable stats:
Easiest picks: Sixteen of the 22 entrants picked Point guards T.J. Ford and Luke Ridenour within five picks and fifteen had Kirk Hinrich within five.
Toughest picks: Only three were within five for Tommy Smith and four within five for Marcus Banks.
Exact picks: Nick Collison (Jeremy Lee, Peter Caldwell, Ben Browdy), T.J. Ford (Hank Stillman), Luke Ridenour (James Duncan, Jason Horton), Dwayne Wade (Jeremy Lee, Hank Stillman), Luke Walton (Billy Ridge), David West (Daniel Rivero)
Here are the final standings. The low scores were probably due to failing to realize that predicting who wouldn't be drafted is as important as predicting the positions of those who were drafted. All ties were broken using the tiebreaker (foreign players drafted = 20).
