Installing/Configuring Eudora 7.0.1
NOTE: To configure Eudora to use SSL, click here
We encourage users to regularly use an email client such as Eudora, Mozilla Mail, Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger to download their email to a local machine rather than only leaving the messages on the email server. This ensures that you have a backup copy on your machine.
To Install Eudora 7.0.1:
- To start Eudora installer, double click on the
Eudora625.exe icon on the desktop.

- You will see the unzip progress bar and the Install Wizard will begin.
- The following welcome screen will appear. Click Next.

- Read through the license agreement. Click Yes.
- Verify Eudora and Importers are checked. Click
Next.

- You can now select a directory for which Eudora will be installed.
Use the default directory. Click Next.

- Click Next to begin the installation of the program files.

- When the computer finishes copying files, it will prompt you to create a shortcut
on your desktop. Click Yes if you would like to have a shortcut on your desktop.

- If you selected "Yes" in the previous step, you will be prompted to give a name for
the shortcut icon. Type "Eudora" and click Next.

- Lastly, you will be presented with the following screen. Feel free to make any selection.
If you mark both boxes you will be presented with the Readme file and you will be taken to the
Qualcomm website (you must be connected to the Internet to go to the site). Otherwise, click
Finish.

- Eudora 7.0.1 is now installed.
Configuring Eudora 7.0.1
The first time you run Eudora, the New Account Wizard screen will appear. Follow these instructions to configure Eudora.
- Click Next.

- If you are importing your settings, click the appropriate choice. Otherwise, highlight
the first option and click Next.

- Type in your full name and click Next.

- Enter your Bruin OnLine email address and click Next.

- Your UCLA Logon ID should be filled in. Click Next.

- The Incoming Server field should read mail.ucla.edu.
Click Next.

- The Outgoing Server field should read mail.ucla.edu.
Click Next.

- Click Finish.

Configuring Eudora for SSL
- You must now configure Eudora's security settings. From the menu bar, select Tools, then Options. Then select the Checking Mail icon from the left side of the Options window. Change the Secure Sockets when Receiving option to Required, STARTTLS.

- You must also select the Sending Mail icon and change the Secure Sockets when Sending option to Required, STARTTLS. Once you've changed these settings, click OK.

- You have now installed and setup Eudora 7.0.1.
Configuring Eudora 7.0.1 for LDAP directory services
Please follow the directions below to configure your Eudora Pro 7.0.1 to enable LDAP directory services. (You must run Eudora 7.0.1 first).
- Click Tools->Directory Services.

- Highlight and Double-Click LDAP under the Protocols subsection.

- Under the Network tab, enter the following information into
the fields specified below.

- Under the Search Options tab, enter the following information into
the fields specified below (Search Base:
ou=person,dc=ldap,dc=ucla,dc=edu).
Click OK.

- Select and Check-mark UCLA Directory under the heading Configured Servers
within the subsection Databases before entering a search string in the Query field.
