What is Sophos Anti-virus?
Sophos Anti-Virus is an award winning anti-virus program that protects your computer from viruses that may try to enter your computer via email, downloads or disk media. How do I keep Sophos up to date so that it always scans for the newest viruses?
Simply right-click the Sophos icon in your system tray and select Update Now. Please note that Sophos automatically updates it's virus definitions every six (6) hours so it will check for newest virus updates.

How do I manually scan for viruses on my computer?
You should rarely need to manually scan your computer for viruses because Sophost scans for viruses as you access files on your computer. However, if you wish to perform an Immediate scan, please go to your Start menu > Progam Files > Sophos Anti-Virus > Sophos Anti-Virus. Click on the Scan my computer icon to scan.

Is Automatic Updating available for
Macintosh?
Automatic Updating is available for Macintosh OS 10.2 and above. Please visit http://www.bol.ucla.edu/software/sophos/ to download Sophos Anti Virus for OS 10.2 and above.
Automatic Updating features are not available for Macintosh OS 10.0 - 10.1 and Mac Classic. You will need to manually update both the engine and the IDE ( virus identity) files. Please follow the update instructions linked from our Sophos site at:

How do I uninstall Sophos for
Macintosh?
- To uninstall Sophos Anti-Virus for Macintosh OS 10.2 and above, double click on Remove Sophos-Antivirus.mpkg from the following folder:
Hard Drive > Library > Application Support > Sophos Anti-Virus - To uninstall Sophos Anti-Virus for Macintosh OS 10.1 and below, please drag the Sophos Application to the Trash.
- To uninstall Sophos Anti-Virus for Macintosh OS 10.2 and above, double click on Remove Sophos-Antivirus.mpkg from the following folder:
