Configuring VPN for PocketPC 2003
These instructions assume that you have a wi-fi network card installed/configured to connect to UCLAWLAN
- Before beginning the installation, please change your password on our
website at:
You will need to change the password to something different from what you have currently.
- Please go to the Start menu, then Settings. Please select the connections tab, and then the Connections icon.
- Select the Advanced tab, then click on Select
Networks.(See Figure 1)

- In the field for programs that automatically connect to a private network
should connect using:, select New.(See Figure 2)

- Type in UCLA VPN for the name of the setting.(See Figure 3)

- Select the VPN tab, and click on New.
- Under host Name/IP, type in pptp.vpn.ucla.edu.(See Figure 4)
- Under VPN type, select PPTP,
and click Next.

- Type in your UCLA Logon ID and password in
the appropriate boxes; leave domain blank... click on Finish, then
Ok in the upper right hand corner of the screen.(See Figure 5)

- Now click on the Exceptions button, and then click on Add new URL.
- Under work url type in */* and click Ok.

- Click ok again to be taken back to the Connections window, and click Ok one final time.
Running VPN for PocketPC 2003
- To connect to the Internet, click on the Connectivity icon next to the
volume icon and time on your screen.(See Figure 7)

- Click on Connect VPN next to UCLA VPN, and wait for the window to disappear once connected.
- To disconnect, click on the Connectivity icon again, and click on Disconnect
