Configuring Netscape for the BOL Proxy Server

IMPORTANT: The minimum version of Netscape require d to access the BOL Proxy Server is Netscape 4.0.

The following instructions will configure Netscape with the BOL proxy server. This will allow you to access UCLA restricted sites and the UCLA news server while connecting through another ISP.

Configuring the BOL Proxy Server for the Web

  1. Open up Netscape Navigator to Edit/Preferences. Click on the + next to Advanced and click on Proxies (on the left).

    Preferences->Proxies

  2. On the right frame, select Automatic proxy configuration.
  3. In the field Configuration location (URL): type http://proxy.ucla.edu/cgi/proxy
  4. Click on the OK button.

When you access a UCLA restricted site, a secure page will ask you to enter your UCLA Logon ID and password before proceeding to the site.
