Configuring Spam Scanning for Eudora 5.x for Windows

Below is a comprehensive set of instructions to configure Eudora 5.x for Windows to filter spam e-mails.

Creating a Spam folder

  1. Click on the Mailbox menu at the top of the screen, then choose New (See Figure 1)

  2. Enter "Spam" or any folder name of your choosing into the dialog and click OK (See Figure 2)

  3. You should now have a folder with whatever name you chose in your folder list

Please Note: Because SpamAssassin is unable to determine with 100% accuracy if a message is unsolicited, you will want to check your Spam folder frequently for legitimate e-mails, as well as to delete the actual spam


Creating a Spam filter

  1. Click on the Tools menu at the top of the screen, then choose Filters (See Figure 3)

  2. Click on the "New" button
  3. Under the Match: heading, select "Incoming"
  4. Enter the text "X-Probable-Spam:" into the Header: text box
  5. Select "contains" from the dropdown box, and enter "yes" in the text box
  6. Under the Actions: heading, select "Transfer to"
  7. Click the button to the right of "Transfer to" and select "Spam" (See Figure 4 for an example of the Filters configuration window)

  8. Close the Filters window
  9. When asked if you want to save changes, click the Yes button (See Figure 5)
