Setting up a filter using the Spam Identification Service

  1. Login to BOL Webmail at https://mail.ucla.edu/
  2. Click on the + icon just to the left of the Mail icon in the menu bar on the left.
  3. Click on the Filters link in the menu bar on the left.
  4. Click on the Spam icon at the top of the page.
  5. Select a minimum spam score to filter (we recommend you start off with a setting of 5) and a mailbox to filter the messages into. If you do not see a Spam folder in the drop-down menu you will need to manually create it.   6. Click on the Save Changes link.
  7. Click on the Enable link.

Setting up a filter to forward non-spam messages to an alternative account

If you have set up spam filters and want to forward non-spam messages, you will need to manually configure a new mail rule as described below.

  1. Login to the BOL Webmail at https://mail.ucla.edu/ .
  2. Click on the + icon just to the left of the Mail icon in the menu bar on the left.
  3. Click on the Filters link in the menu bar on the left.
  4. Click on the New Rule icon at the top of the page.
  5. In the If mail header field, type X-Probable-Spam.
  6. In the contains: field, type no.
  7. Click on the Save Changes link.
