BOL Email Account Quota
With the introduction of IMAP and Server-side Filtering, we have changed the way you check your quota. Your quota will now be displayed automatically when you login to the BOL Webmail system.
Your BOL email account has a hard quota of 75MB. What this means is that you can only store a maximum of 75MB on the BOL email server. After you reach the 75MB hard quota, all new email will be bounced back to the sender. You will receive a warning message when the mailbox reaches 90% capacity of the 75MB limit. It is important that you keep an eye on your quota as bounced messages are NOT saved on the storage servers.
To check your quota, please login to BOL Webmail at:
If your mailbox is over quota, it will resemble the following image:
Problems deleting messages when over quota
Have you made sure to empty out your trash folder? E-mails stored in your trash folder are not automatically deleted and count towards your quota. If your trash mailbox is empty and your account is near or already over quota, you'll need to do the following to purge individual messages:
- Login to BOL webmail at: https://mail.ucla.edu
- Click on Options > Mail > Deleting and Moving Messages
- Uncheck the box next to: When deleting messages, move them to your Trash folder instead of marking them as deleted?
- Click Save Changes
- Go back to your Inbox and delete any messages you don't need. We recommend you start with the emails with large attachments as they take up the most space.
- After deleting a message they should now show up in your mailbox with a strike through. You will need to click on Purge Deleted to completely delete the e-mails from your mailbox.
- Repeat steps 5-6 for any of your other mail folders.
- Once you have cleaned up your mailbox, you can go back and re-enable the Trash folder option referenced in Step 3.
