SSL Configuration - Netscape Mail

NOTE: The instructions below apply for both IMAP and POP settings. The only difference in settings is based on version and will be detailed below.

  1. Please click Edit in the menu bar and select Mail and Newsgroup Account Settings.

  2. Select Server Settings and enable the Use secure connection (SSL) option in the server settings field.

  3. Now select Outgoing Server (SMTP). Check the box labeled Use name and password and enter your UCLA Logon ID in the field below it.
  4. (SSL).

    If the server name in the Outgoing Server (SMTP) window is ANYTHING other than mail.ucla.edu, you are FINISHED.


  5. If the server name is mail.ucla.edu, you must enable the SSL option by checking the button titled Always under Use secure connection (SSL).

  6. NOTE: The screen for version 7.2 is slightly different. You must enable the SSL option by checking the button titled TLS under Use secure connection (SSL).
