SSL Configuration - Eudora Pro

NOTE: The instructions below apply identically for both IMAP and POP settings. The only difference in settings is based on version and will be detailed below.

  1. In the Eudora application, click on Tools then Options.

  2. Select the Checking Mail icon.
  3. Under Secure Sockets when Receiving select the following:

    • Eudora 6.2+ Required, STARTTLS.
    • Eudora 5.2.1 - 6.1 Required, Alternate Port.

      • Also be sure the Mail Server: field lists mail.ucla.edu as the mail server.

  4. Select the Sending Mail icon.

  5. NOTE: Please note the value under the SMTP Server field.

    6. If it is ANYTHING other than mail.ucla.edu YOU ARE FINISHED.

If your SMTP server is mail.ucla.edu:

  1. Under Secure Sockets when Sending, select the following:

    • Eudora 6.2+ Required, STARTTLS.

      • Also be sure the SMTP Server: field lists mail.ucla.edu as the mail server.

  2. You will be required to authenticate with your UCLA Logon ID and password before sending email using your BOL profile.
