BOL Software

  • How can I obtain BOL software?

The latest BOL software and updates may be downloaded from http://www.bol.ucla.edu/software/

  • How can I share Eudora with my roommate?

It is possible to share a computer between two or more people and allow all of them to check and send e-mail from their own BOL email accounts using Eudora. Each person who uses the computer will have their own directory or folder to store all of their mailboxes, address books, and preferences.

For step-by-step instructions on setting up Eudora for more than one person, click www.bol.ucla.edu/help/using/win/eudora/ for Windows users, www.bol.ucla.edu/help/using/mac/eudora/ for Mac users.

  • How can I check email from two locations and ensure that I have a copy of my email at both locations?

WARNING: Enabling this option could exceed your 75MB email quota. Please read these instructions carefully before proceeding.

Most POP email clients (Eudora, Netscape Messenger, Outlook Express) have the ability to use a function called "Leave Mail on Server". This option allows you to download a copy of your new email messages, while leaving the messages on the mail server. The danger with this option is to enable Leave Mail on Server at both locations from which you are checking mail. This can result in messages never being deleted from the mail server, which will eventually lead to your email account exceeding the quota limit.

To prevent this from occurring, use the option to delete messages from the server after a certain number of days. Alternatively, you can enable the option that allows you to remove messages from the server when they are deleted from your e-mail program (in Eudora, these options are under Tools, Options, Incoming Mail category). You will need to adjust these settings according to your email usage patterns. For additional help with this option, please contact the Bruin OnLine Help Desk at (310) 267-HELP (4357), Option 1.
