What are the settings needed to configure my e-mail
program?
The mail servers used for checking and sending e-mail on the Bruin OnLine system are:- Incoming (POP/IMAP) Server: mail.ucla.edu
- Secure sockets when receiving(SSL): required
- Outgoing (SMTP) Server: mail.ucla.edu
- Secure sockets when sending(SSL): required
- SMTP server requires authentication: required

What is the address of the news server?
The news server used with Bruin OnLine is news.ucla.edu.

What is the address to publish my BOL Web page?
You can upload your personal web page files via ftp to http://www.bol.ucla.edu and logging in with your BOL username and password. For more information on uploading your Web page files to the BOL server, click http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/web.

How can I check my e-mail while traveling
abroad?
To check your BOL e-mail from a remote host or through a different service provider, you can view your email at https://mail.ucla.edu.

What are the TCP/IP network settings needed to
dial up to BOL with Windows?
- Double click on the My Computer icon.
- Double click on the Control Panel icon.
- Double click on the Network icon.
- Check to see what network components are installed under 'The following network components are installed' section.
- Make certain that there is only one spare TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter. If there are more than one, delete the extra ones.
- Highlight TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter. Click on Properties. Under the IP Address tab, Obtain an IP Address Automatically needs to be selected. Under the DNS Configuration tab, Disable DNS needs to be selected. When you are done checking this, click OK.
