04/02/99: New 310 Area Code Overlay

Beginning April 17, 1999, the new 310/424 overlay area code will go into effect. Because of the overlay, callers within the dual 310/424 area code will be required to dial 11 digits (1 + area code + 7-digit number), even when both the caller and the dialed telephone number are in the same area code.

If you access Bruin OnLine (BOL) by dialing in from the 310 area code, you need to reprogram your BOL dialing software to include 1 + 310 in front of the 7-digit BOL dial-in number.
