04/18/97: Bruin OnLine Vacation Program Available on Ben2
We have added a new service to the BEN2 menu. The Vacation Message Service allows you to create an automated reply to incoming mail. While this option is enabled, everyone who sends you an email message will receive the "On Vacation" message that you have created.
This is an excellent way to ensure that your correspondents are aware that you are away from UCLA and unable to respond to their mail. Use this option when you are going on vacation, to a conference or home for the holidays.
After activating Vacation Notification, your incoming mail continues to be delivered as usual. The only difference is that your correspondents will receive your "On Vacation" message as a reply. If you have mail forwarding set, your mail will continue to be forwarded.
The Vacation Message Service is option #5 on the Ben2 menu (accessed by
telnetting to ben2.ucla.edu). For more information
please refer to the section titled "Electronic Mail" of the
online Bruin OnLine Handbook. The direct address is:
http://www.ucla.edu/bruinonline/ref/email/index.html#vacation
If you have any questions or need assistance using this new service please contact consulting at consult@ucla.edu or 825-7452, option 1.
