01/27/97: Bruin OnLine Dial-up System To Be Restructured

Many people have found that the Bruin OnLine dial-up lines have become quite busy.

As an interim solution to the increased use of the dial-ups, the Bruin OnLine Express modem pool (310-825-9944) will be increased by about 50%. This should provide a reliable way to obtain a 15 minute connection. (The Bruin OnLine Express modem pool will automatically disconnect you after 15 minutes no matter what you are doing. By doing this, there is a higher rotation of callers which increases the availability of the lines.) OAC is committed to provide reliable access to the Express lines when the main modem pool is busy.

In the next couple of months, OAC will be working on a long-term solution to the insufficiencies of the main modem pool.
