Attention Laptop Owners -- Ethernet Ports (11/26/96)

In order to use the 10baseT ports in the Powell Library, CLICC, and OAC Commons you will need to log in to the network. This is done using an authentication client.

OAC is looking for Bruin OnLine users to beta test the authentication client.

The actual test will take approximately 15 minutes. It will consist of installing the software on your laptop and then trying it out in MSA 4328.

To be a beta tester you will need:

• a portable/laptop PC (Win95 or NT 4.0) or Mac (Open Transport)
• ethernet adapter that supports 10baseT connections
• BOL or equivalent internet software

Beta testing for the Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 clients has begun. The Macintosh client will be available in early December. Please contact OAC Consulting at 310-825-7452 (option #1) or at 4302 MSA for information.

What do you get for volunteering? You get to keep the authentication client and therefore will be immediately able to use the Ethernet ports in the Powell Library.

Eventually the authentication client will be available on the BOL webpages and included in the BOL software package.
