Bruin OnLine Software Upgrade Offer (10/09/96)
The ASUCLA Computer Store is now offering an upgrade from Bruin OnLine v1.0 or v1.1 to the CD version of Bruin OnLine v2.0. To obtain the upgrade, simply take your original Bruin OnLine disks to the computer store for the exchange. The upgrade will cost $19 plus tax.
Bruin OnLine v2.0 offers newer versions of the Internet clients. In particular we are now distributing Netscape v2.02, Eudora v3.0 for Mac and Eudora v2.2 for the PC. The Mac version also contains the system software update from v7.5.x to v7.5.3.
Bruin OnLine v2.0 is available for Windows 95 machines. It will automatically configure the Dial-up Networking software so that you can take advantage of the 32-bit software. The Windows 95 version of the Bruin OnLine software installs the 32 bit versions of the clients.
The dial-up scripts for Netcom, Compuserve and Telis (MCI) are included so that Bruin OnLine users can use the Bruin OnLine software to connect to one of these services (assuming they have an account with that service).
There are a number of benefits to having Netscape 2.02. To list a few:
It can handle "frames" which are used on many newer web pages.
It fixes security problems that existed in earlier versions so that you can access URSA OnLine among other secure sites.
For more information regarding the purchase of the package, contact the ASUCLA Computer Store at 310-825-6952. For more information regarding the software itself, contact OAC Consulting at 310-825-7452.
