An Announcement Regarding Bruin OnLine in the Residence Halls
The Business Enterprises' Technology Center in conjunction with OAC and ORL is in the process upgrading and refining several components to the Residence Hall's LAN installation of BOL. Our initial upgrade program is as follows:
Beginning this past Wednesday, in conjunction with ORL's RCI group we began providing in room upgrades supporting the required TCP/IP patch and modifications of buffers to support Eudora for PCs. In addition, as necessary, we are providing fine tuning support to our Mac users.
Each of these steps is being supported by additional student staff answering the Technology Center Help lines and the addition of a new appointment line. The appointment line is for those individuals who may not be in their rooms during the upgrades, or at the time of a Cable service call.
Based on the outcome of our efforts this week, we expect to complete the balance of the upgrade program as follows:
This week: 10-12
- Hedrick and Hitch Suites
- Begin Saxon Suites
- Hershey
Week of 10-16
- Balance of Saxon Suites
- Rieber
- Dykstra
- Begin Sproul
Week of 10-23
- Balance of Sproul
- Sunset Village
Given the in room fine tuning process, we still anticipate being left with those machines that simply continue to have connectivity problems. To support this process OAC and BE will be teaming together in a weekly session to address each of these PC's and Mac's.
With respect to Cable TV, we expect to have completed nearly all of the outstanding service calls this week. If we have missed you, please leave a message on the Appointment line at 69002. We will make every attempt to respond within 48 hours and set an appointment with you or your roommates.
