9/01/2008: Fake Account Verification Message from "WEBMAIL SUPPORT"
It has been reported to UCLA's abuse team that an email has been distributed from "WEBMAIL SUPPORT: webmaster.support@live.com". If you received this, please IGNORE it and immediately DELETE the email. This is an account phishing attempt. The body of the message is similar to the following:
Dear Subscriber,
This message is from mail.ucla.edu messaging center to all
mail.ucla.edu account owners.
The centre is currently performing maintenance and upgrading
it's database. We intend upgrading our Webmail Security Server for
better online services. We are currently deleting all inactive
mail.ucla.edu email account to create more space for new
accounts.
In order to ensure you do not experience service interruptions,
please reply this email immediately and provide the following
information below to prevent your account from being deactivated
from our data base.
Name:
login id:
password:
You can also confirm your email address by logging into your email
account @ https://mail.ucla.edu/login.php/
Thank you for using our online services.

Once again, the above email does NOT originate from Bruin OnLine or any other campus agency. Viruses and phishing attempts such as this are usually easy to spot by the fact that it is requesting your account information (username and password), birth date, and University ID Number (UID). Please be aware that Bruin OnLine staff will never request your password at any time.
If you did reply to the email with your account information, please visit https://logon.ucla.edu/passchange.php to immediately change your password.
