4/3/2006: BOL Mail Server Maintenance beginning 4/22/06

In order to resolve recent performance issues related to Bruin OnLine's mail services, CTS Systems Engineering will be performing maintenance on the Bruin OnLine mail servers on:

  • Saturday, April 22
  • Sunday, April 23
  • Saturday, April 29

This maintenance is required to expand system capacity and migrate some users onto the additional servers.

The maintenance will occur from 2:00AM to 6:00AM on each of these days and will affect several hundred users per four-hour outage period. Affected users will be without access to mail services (webmail, POP, IMAP) for one hour during only one of these early-morning outages.

Please be assured that no incoming user mail will be lost, as messages will be stored in the queue until the service comes back online. Affected users will not be able to log onto webmail during the outage, and attempts to access mail via an e-mail client (Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc.) will result in generic connection failure errors.
