9/30/2005: Bruin OnLine Enhancements
Bruin OnLine has been busy over the summer and is pleased to announce the following improvements and enhancements to our services:
- Upgraded Webmail software, featuring several enhancements and bug fixes:
- Web-based calendar
- Task list manager
- Web-based FTP client for managing your BOL-hosted web space
- Easy-to-set-up spam filtering
- Task list manager
- Wireless network improvements
- Coverage expansion in Ackerman Union, Residential Housing, Kerckhoff Hall, and North Campus Student Center, as well as the following libraries:
- Powell
- YRL
- Biomed
- Chemistry
- Geology
- Schoenberg

- Improved wireless authentication using the campus portal-just connect to UCLAWLAN, launch a browser, and sign-in using your BOL username. For those areas not supported via the campus portal, you can continue to use the VPN client if you prefer.
- Self-service password resets and username lookups-if you've forgotten your account information, you can lookup your username and reset your password online at https://logon.ucla.edu/.
- BOL will be distributing anti-spyware software to the campus community in the coming days as a result of a new University site license for Webroot's Spy Sweeper. Information will be available at http://www.bol.ucla.edu/software/win/.
- Web hosting service improvements:
- Increased quota to 15MB
- NEW optional publishing URL at username.bol.ucla.edu
- More enhancements coming this academic year, including blogs

- Other good news: BOL is happy to announce lifetime email forwarding for alumni. When you graduate, you can keep your @ucla.edu email address indefinitely and have all email forwarded to your most current address. Find out more at http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/accounts/lifetime/.
- In case you missed it before you left for the summer, BOL now gives all users the ability to set up one email alias for their account. Use your alias to set up a more professional-looking or easier-to-understand email address. Information is available at http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/accounts/alias/. To take advantage of the new and expanded 15-character limit on usernames, all Bruin OnLine users also have a one-time opportunity to change their username before 5/31/06.
