05/16/2005: Cisco VPN Client for Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) UPDATE
Cisco has released the Cisco VPN client version 4.6.03. This client is compatible with Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). You may download the client from http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/vpn/software/vpnmac-4603.dmg.gz. The download links on the VPN pages of the BOL website have been updated with this new version as well.
If you have any questions, please contact the BOL Help Desk at (310) 267-4357, option 1, or at consult@ucla.edu.
Users wishing to upgrade their Macintosh operating system (OS) to 10.4 (Tiger) should be aware that at this time, there is no available means of connecting to the UCLAWLAN wireless network with that OS. Apple's built-in PPTP does not work with our current network setup and the most recent Cisco VPN client will not work with Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). Cisco has stated that they hope to make an updated client available 30 days after the release of Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). When the updated client becomes available, BOL will make an announcement and post it on our website on the VPN page at http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/vpn/.
BOL is looking into other options as well, but at this time, we do not have a definitive solution. Until the Cisco client becomes available, early adopters of Tiger will be unable to use the UCLAWLAN wireless network on campus.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while this issue sorts itself out. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions please contact the BOL Help Desk at (310)825-7452, option 1, or at consult@ucla.edu.
