04/27/2005: Legacy VPN to be Decommissioned

The old Cisco 5000 VPN concentrator (commonly referred to as legacy.vpn.ucla.edu) will be decommissioned on June 30th, 2005. All users of legacy.vpn.ucla.edu must migrate their VPN client to one compatible with the Cisco 3030 VPN concentrator (vpn.ucla.edu) before the decommission date if they wish to continue using VPN services. BOL will examine log files and contact confirmed users of legacy.vpn.ucla.edu directly to inform them of the necessary changes. Further action will be required ONLY by users contacted directly by BOL.

Cisco 3030-compatible clients are available for download from the BOL website at http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/vpn/. Users of Windows 2000/XP or MacOS 10.0 -10.2 may also use the built-in PPTP VPN service in their respective operating systems. Information is available at http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/vpn/pptp.

Users who wish to install the Cisco 3030 client must completely uninstall the Cisco 5000 client before installing the new one. Users may also contact the BOL Help Desk at 310-267-4357, option 1 for assistance with installing the new client.
