03/14/05: RESOLVED Partial Email Outage
The faulty hardware that caused the earlier issue has been replaced. The storage system has been brought back online and is fully operational as of 9:30pm.
No mail was lost. Mail sent during the outage was stored on the campus SMTP servers and is now being delivered.
We apologize and regret any inconvenience caused by this outage.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at (310) 267-4357, option 1, or at consult@ucla.edu.
Slightly after 2pm one of the Bruin OnLine mail storage servers experienced a disk fault and was taken offline for diagnosis and repair. Pending completion of a low-level check of the storage system, we expect normal access to be restored early this evening.
The other servers that make up the Bruin OnLine storage cluster were not affected and are online, functioning normally.
If you find that you are not able to access your email, we ask that you remain patient and try again in several hours.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions, please contact the BOL Help Desk at (310) 267-4357, option 1, or at consult@ucla.edu.
