11/24/2003: Announcing BOL IMAP and Server-side Filtering
Effective November 24, 2003, CTS is pleased to announce the availability of IMAP access to BOL email and Sieve server-side mail filtering for use by all BOL users.
IMAP
IMAP is the Internet Mail Access Protocol and allows the use of a variety of "client" email programs to access a message stored on the server, as well as to create folders/mailboxes that are accessible via any IMAP client. Email stored on an IMAP server can be manipulated from a desktop computer at home, a workstation at the office, or a notebook computer while traveling, without the need to transfer messages or files back and forth between these computers.
For more information and instructions about IMAP Email, we invite you to go to:
Please note that your mailbox will continue to have maximum storage of 15 MB
Server-side Mail Filtering
Sieve is a server-side mail filtering language that allows you to create filtering rules that take effect on the server, before your email client retrieves messages from the server. Sieve allows you to build rules to transfer mail to IMAP folders and reject or delete mail based on particular content. Sieve also allows rules to be set for vacation messages and mail forwarding.

BOL Webmail with IMAP
IMAP and Sieve functionality will also support access to your BOL account through BOL Webmail. Webmail allows you to send and receive email through your Web browser with the security of 128bit SSL encryption. You will also have IMAP folder access through Webmail. You can login to the BOL Webmail at:

Pine
Effective December 31, 2003, the BOL-provided Pine telnet interface will be decommissioned. Users who wish to continue to use Pine will be able to do so by installing Pine on their own computers and configuring it to access BOL email via IMAP. By installing Pine locally, users can avoid the insecurity of telnet cleartext protocol by using SSL/TLS for encryption. You can download and install PC-Pine now at:
