10/09/03: BOL Webmail Address Books
In response to user requests for a more portable and secure mail system, effective Friday, October 10, 2003 . CTS will release Bruin OnLine (BOL) Webmail in full production mode with the addition of address book functionality. BOL Webmail is a secure, web-based email program that has been available in beta-test form for several months. BOL Webmail is available at:
Simply enter your Bruin Online ID and password.
BOL Webmail offers the following features and functionality:
- Allows you to send and receive email through your Web browser with the security of 128bit SSL encryption.
- Supports the following browsers: Internet Explorer 5.5/6, Netscape Communicator 4/6/7,
Mozilla 1.x, and Opera 6.0/7.0.
Note: If you wish to use another browser, it must support tables and Javascript, and be capable of connecting to 128-bit HTTPS sites, which is used to encrypt your Webmail session. - Lets you attach files up to 10MB in size to your email messages.
Note: Please keep in mind that email attachment encoding adds between 20-30% to the overall message size. Therefore, most binary attachments are limited to approximately 7MB. - Supports address books that can be customized by each BOL user. Existing Pine address books will be migrated on a one-time basis into the BOL Webmail application on October 10. The two address books will not be synchronized after that date.
- When you check your email using Webmail, your messages will still be available to download to your POP mail client such as Eudora, Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger when you return to your main computer, as long as you do not delete your messages in Webmail.
- Your email quota for Webmail will continue to be 15 MB.
