09/13/2002: Bruin OnLine (BOL) Modem Pool Announcement

On Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at 7:30 a.m., the BOL Express modem pool will be upgraded to support V.90 modems with connect times extended to four hours. All dial-in users will now have the benefits of the Regular modem pool, (see http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/dialup/ for details).

Excess capacity in the Express modem pool makes it possible to extend the connect times. In the future, if users begin to experience busy signals when dialing into the Express pool, the connect times will be shortened appropriately so that the Express modem pool continues to be a fast, reliable, no-hassle way to access the Internet.

If you will be using the V.90 modems for the first time, please be sure that you are using the latest drivers and firmware for your modem.
