  • Jun 7, 2002 - Sad News from the Phillipines
    Kansas missionary and ham radio operator Martin Burnham, KC0DNB, who'd been held hostage with his wife, Gracia, for more than a year by terrorists in the Philippines, was shot and killed during a rescue mission by US-trained Filipino troops. Gracia was wounded but rescued safely.

    • IK3ZAW/6 Worked a new country (with only one ham radio operator in residence), and is going to try and get on to the Antartica Net to work some DX on April 22 ("Solar X Class Storm" permitting).
    • WA6AYI Announces Field Day coming up June 22-23, 2002, 11am Saturday through 9pm Sunday.
    • KC6LDS Very Happy with her Radio Shack DX-245 Dual Bander, 700 mW gets her into the machine from just about anywhere locally.
    • K6LDO Working on adding the Icom 706 MKIIG radio to the repeater for remote operation of HF Bands. First to be up will be 10 Meters - from your HT! Also working with Battalion 9 LAFD on emergency communications within the Brentwood Community and the CERT program. Another alternative net will be on Friday nights at 7pm for those who cannot make it on Sunday.
